Note from Angela
Hello, Kansas DBEs!
Happy (almost) Meteorological Spring! We have a lot to share so keep on reading.
Our next Monthly DBE Meeting is Wednesday, March 5 at 12pm on Teams.
Join us from your office, car, or home and bring your lunch or coffee (just be sure to mute while you’re crunching or slurping!)
This month is mostly going to be an open discussion. Share what’s going on with your business. Ask questions of your fellow DBEs. I will share a couple things (that I am also sharing below) but that won’t take up much of our time.
You should all have this event already in your email/on your calendar but if you don’t, please email us.
BOI Reporting
As of February 27, it was announced the deadline to file BOI reports will be extended, but a new date has not been established (as of Feb 28, 11am).
You can still fill out the report on the Treasury’s website: https://fincen.gov/boi. You do NOT need to pay to file so make sure you are on the website I’ve linked. There are scams out there!
Tax Scams
The IRS has published their Dirty Dozen list; a list of common scams related to tax filings in 2025. Make sure to take a look at it.
IRS Business Tax Account (online services)
You may be able to set up a Business Tax Account through the IRS’s website. Available features include:
- Balance due.
- Payment history.
- Digital copies of select IRS notices.
- Business name and address on file.
- Tax compliance report or a tax certificate for award use.
If there is anyway I can be of help, please email or call the office to schedule an appointment.
Ubuntu!

Governor Kelly Announces over $26M to Modernize Southwest Kansas Roads
Governor Laura Kelly announced Thursday that the Kansas Department of Transportation has received over $26 million in federal funding to improve rural road infrastructure in Hamilton and Edwards counties.
“This significant investment will transform rural infrastructure in southwest Kansas by improving accessibility for residents and businesses,” Governor Laura Kelly said. “We thank the U.S. Department of Transportation for recognizing the importance of this project to Kansas.”
Awarded through the Rural Surface Transportation Grant Program, the funding will support the replacement of 14.8 miles of dirt roads with paved surfaces, incorporating stormwater management systems, improved sight distances, and enhanced road shoulders in Hamilton and Edwards counties to improve mobility for the region’s developing dairy industry.

KDOT’s Cost Share Program applications being accepted
The Kansas Department of Transportation is now accepting applications for the spring 2025 round of the agency’s Cost Share Program. More than $152 million has been given to Kansas communities since the Cost Share Program began in 2019.
The Cost Share Program provides financial assistance to local entities for construction projects that improve safety, leverage state funds to increase total transportation investment and help both rural and urban areas of the state improve the transportation system.
