$5.3M for KDOT Cost Share Program projects
TOPEKA – Governor Laura Kelly and Transportation Secretary Calvin Reed today announced $5.3 million in awards for 11 vital transportation construction projects across Kansas through the Kansas Department of Transportation’s (KDOT) Cost Share Program for Spring 2025. This state investment will leverage nearly $3 million in community matching funds, totaling more than $8 million for infrastructure improvements that will enhance safety, support local economies, and improve connectivity. $4.5M for Innovative Transportation projects across Kansas
TOPEKA, KS – Governor Laura Kelly announced today the recipients of the annual transportation innovation funding program, awarding a total of $4,511,595.00 to 20 projects across the state. This year’s funding will support initiatives ranging from advanced unmanned aerial systems (UAS) research to artificial intelligence (AI)-driven infrastructure management and safety enhancements. Kansas Department of Commerce launches online resource hub for small businesses
The Kansas Department of Commerce launched its new online resource hub for small businesses and Kansas Small Business Office.
ConnectKS, the new digital platform, is an Ecomap that collects, shares and continuously updates information about real-life ecosystems of people, places, organizations and resources in your community, the website said. It allows for resource access to small business owners, entrepreneurs and anyone else interested in the business realm of Kansas. Read more here.

Rochester construction unions launch digital push to attract workers
Rather than waiting for potential employees to come to them, the Construction Industry Association of Rochester (CIAR) is taking recruitment efforts to the places people hang out: Social media and streaming sites.
The Future is in Your Hands is a new CIAR campaign, created by Mason Marketing to promote the benefits of working in the union trades. With a pressing need to fill openings in every sector of the trades, CIAR has chosen a different approach to what has been traditional outreach.
