Because of COVID-19, we know many of our clients and others in our community are struggling. Here some federal and state programs that can help during this time of need.

Federal

SBA Paycheck Protection Program – Although this CARES Act program ran out of the first round of funding, a second round looks to be forthcoming. This low-interest loan program provides much-needed funds for small businesses to pay payroll expenses, rent, and utilities. As long as 75% of the loan is used for payroll, the entire loan is forgivable. If you already have a relationship with a community bank, reach out and ask if they are participating as an SBA preferred lender. You can also contact our office, and we can refer you to a local bank.

Federal Stimulus Payments – If you haven’t already received your stimulus payment via direct deposit, you can check your status at Get My Payment. If you get a Payment Status Unavailable message, please note that it does not automatically mean that you will not receive a payment.

Paid Leave – As part of the Families First Coronavirus Act, paid sick leave and medical leave related to COVID-19 have been expanded for many employees. Check out the guidelines to see if you qualify.

State of Kansas

Unemployment Benefits – As part of the CARES Act, unemployment benefits have been expanded. Eligible recipients will receive an extra $600 per week in benefits. Additionally, unemployment benefits are now temporarily available for self-employed workers and independent contractors.
